A special thanks to all the sponsors of the Doha Twestival which takes place tonight.
Just wanted to announce that Tasmeem has agreed to be one of the sponsors and they will be distributing…………..(hold your breath) “cupcakes” tonight at the twestival.
Tasmeem were among the first ( if not the first) to introduce cupcakes in the market properly before they became all the rage in Qatar.
Tasmeem is easily recognizable because of their distinctive use of the color purple

Every year Twestival local reaches out to one charity that highlights a good cause. Doha Twestival team have thought thoroughly about the choice of the charity and finally decided on Reaching Out To Asia, (ROTA). This Qatari non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in November 2005 by Qatar's Heir Apparent, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, started by the idea of a charity that would reach to Asian continent to provide those in need with quality education.
ROTA's mission is to extend that assistance into Asia - where it's strategic geographic location gives it a unique opportunity to support its neighboring countries as they overcome developmental difficulties. In addition, more than 60% of Qatar's own expatriate community is of Asian origin, giving ROTA added insight and understanding of the needs and cultural norms of the Asian people.
Over a thousand participants, from different countries in Asia in year 2000, gathered and agreed on the adoption of Education For All (EFA) Initiative, which states that education is a fundamental human right and aims to achieve education for children and adults around the world. ROTA supports this ideal and believes that every man, woman and child across the Asian continent, regardless of age, gender or circumstance, should have access to quality education.
The Doha Twestival team believed in the cause as well, and believed in it even though the poor never place education as one of their top priorities and give more importance to food and shelter as the basic needs for immediate survival, however, education is an essential need for future survival.
Doha Twestival is not reaching out to this charity in 2011, rather it is investing in a charity that will pay off with having a bright future for every child and adult in many years to come.
